Grace Flynn - Metro Bus Driver of the Month

Grace Flynn, from Christchurch Bus Services, is July 2010's Metro Bus Driver of the month after helping a woman and her children board her bus.

A young mother with a newborn baby and a toddler described Grace as “wonderful” after she was helped aboard the bus with the children after she had to collapse the pram to get on board.

“The driver was not aware that I was recovering from surgery and also had stitches in my arm. I would have been very upset if I hadn’t made it home,” the woman told Metro Info.

It was her first day using a bus in Christchurch and she said “this was great PR (public relations) by this lovely driver”.

Grace has been a bus driver for seven years and drives the Marshlands / Northshore and New Brighton routes.

Grace says she enjoys life as a bus driver and meeting people.
